Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
Setting up your MacBook Air is designed to be straightforward. Use the included USB-C to MagSafe 3 cable for charging. During the initial startup, Migration Assistant will guide you through transferring data from a previous Mac or PC, or you can start fresh.
Compatibility:
- Operating System: Runs on macOS Sequoia, offering seamless integration with other Apple devices (iPhone, iPad) via features like Handoff, Universal Clipboard, and iPhone Mirroring.
- Software: Thousands of Mac apps are optimized for Apple silicon. Popular productivity suites like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace with Gemini are fully supported. Check individual software requirements for compatibility with macOS Sequoia and Apple M4.
- Peripherals: Connect external displays, storage devices, and other accessories via the two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Ensure your accessories are compatible with Thunderbolt 4 or USB-C.
Care:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the screen and exterior. Avoid abrasive materials or harsh chemicals. For stubborn smudges on the screen, slightly dampen the cloth with water.
- Battery Health: To maintain optimal battery health, avoid extreme temperatures. macOS provides battery health management features to help prolong the battery's lifespan.
- Storage: Keep the laptop in a cool, dry environment when not in use. Avoid storing it in direct sunlight or excessively humid conditions.
- MagSafe Charging: Ensure the MagSafe connector is clean and free of debris for a secure magnetic connection.
