The Danish designer Simon Legald has designed a sophisticated range of lamps called Amp. The lamps are characterized by their high-quality materials of glass and marble. These add a visual fragility and sensuous heaviness to the design. The idea for the lamp's shape came when the designer was restoring an old 1960's radio at home. While searching for spare parts for the radio, he was captivated by the glow that emits from the tube amplifier. The simple oval shape and the glow of the lamp is an obvious reference to this, just as the name Amp refers to the English term; tube amplifier. The proportions for each lamp have been carefully designed to ensure just the right balance between hard & soft and transparent & opaque. Dimensions: Ø 14 x H 17 cm - Cable: L 400 cm max.. A mixture of retro charm and contemporary refinement, the Amp pendant offers a beautiful combination of noble materials. It consists of a thin coloured glass lampshade topped off by a brass piece. The delicacy of the lampshade, light as a bubble, is counterbalanced by the glamorous, sensual appearance of marble. The choice of quality materials and elaborate shape of the lampshade give this pendant a sophisticated, timeless feel worthy of the greatest design icons. The "Amp" lamp collection is the work of Danish designer Simon Legald. The idea for the shape of these lamps came to him one day when he was restoring an old radio dating from the 1960s: he loved the glow given off by the tube amplifier. The simple oval shape of the lampshade as well as the particular way it diffuses light obviously refer back to it, just like the name Amp, which uses the abbreviation of amplifier tube.
