The Salomon XT-6 has a 10mm heel drop, which is the difference in height between the heel and the toe of the shoe.
While durable and comfortable, the XT-6 is primarily designed as a performance trail running shoe. Its specialized features might be more than necessary for purely casual, everyday use, but they can certainly be worn comfortably for general activities.
Gently brush off loose dirt. Use a damp cloth with mild soap to clean the upper and outsole. Do not machine wash or dry. Air dry naturally at room temperature, away from direct heat.
The XT-6 excels on varied and challenging terrains, including rocky trails, technical paths, gravel, and even mixed sections that involve pavement. They are built for stability and traction across diverse outdoor conditions.
The Quicklace® system is a minimalist, strong lace that allows for one-pull tightening. It provides a secure, customized fit and makes putting on and taking off the shoes very quick and easy.
The product description does not specify that the Salomon XT-6 is waterproof. While the durable mesh and TPU film offer some protection, it is generally not designed to be fully waterproof. For wet conditions, consider shoes specifically labeled as waterproof.
EVA (Ethylene-vinyl acetate) cushioning is a soft, flexible, and resilient material used in midsoles to absorb shock. It provides significant comfort by reducing the impact on your feet and joints during activities, leading to softer landings.
Adjust the Quicklace® system before and during your activity. Ensure you pull the toggle down firmly for a secure fit, and use the lace pocket to store excess. If still too tight, ensure you've pulled the toggle clip upwards sufficiently to release tension completely before re-tightening.
While the Contagrip® outsole offers excellent traction, extreme conditions like icy surfaces may still pose a challenge. Ensure your lacing is snug to maximize foot-to-shoe connection and thus stability. Inspect the outsole for excessive wear; reduced lug depth can impact grip over time.
Over extended periods, cushioning materials like EVA can compress. Ensure you're airing out the shoes and sockliners after each use. Consider replacing the OrthoLite sockliner if significant compression occurs, as this can restore some of the original cushioning feel. Regular cleaning also helps maintain material integrity.
Quicklace® System: To secure your XT-6, simply pull the toggle down the laces until the shoe feels snug. To release, push the toggle clip upwards and pull the laces outwards from the top of the shoe. Tuck any excess lacing into the lace pocket on the tongue to prevent snagging.
These shoes are compatible with a wide range of outdoor activities, particularly trail running, hiking, and fastpacking. They perform exceptionally well on:
