Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Setting up your new MacBook Air is straightforward. Upon first boot, you will be guided through a simple on-screen setup process, including connecting to Wi-Fi, signing in with your Apple ID, and transferring data from a previous Mac or PC if desired. You can also set up Touch ID during this initial setup.
Compatibility: The MacBook Air runs macOS Tahoe, ensuring compatibility with a vast range of software applications available on the Mac App Store and from third-party developers. It supports the latest wireless standards, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, for seamless connectivity with modern accessories. For connecting external displays, the MacBook Air supports up to two external displays (one natively with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz via Thunderbolt, and another via Thunderbolt/HDMI adapter or directly to the second Thunderbolt port if the primary display supports it).
Care: To maintain your MacBook Air:
- Cleaning the Display: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Avoid spraying liquid directly onto the screen. Do not use window cleaners, household cleaners, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide.
- Cleaning the Exterior: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth. For stubborn spots, slightly dampen the cloth with water.
- Keyboard and Trackpad: Keep the keyboard and trackpad free of debris. A can of compressed air can be used to clear out dust from under the keys.
- Ventilation: Although it has a fanless design, ensure that the vents (if any are present, typically on the hinge area) are not blocked to allow for passive heat dissipation.
- Battery Care: Avoid exposing the MacBook Air to extreme temperatures. macOS has built-in battery management features to optimize battery health.
