Johnstone's Washable Matt Emulsion Paint 2.5L - Cream

Coverage varies based on surface porosity and application method. Typically, a 2.5L tin covers approximately 31 square meters with one coat. Measure your walls (height x width for each wall) to calculate total square footage, then divide by the coverage per litre. Remember to account for two coats.

While it is washable and durable, for high-humidity areas like bathrooms and kitchens, we generally recommend paints specifically formulated for these environments, often with added mould resistance. This paint is best suited for general living areas.

For new, bare plaster, or very porous surfaces, a suitable primer or a mist coat (first coat diluted with water) is highly recommended. For previously painted surfaces in good condition, priming is usually not necessary, but cleaning and light sanding may be beneficial.

Clean brushes and rollers immediately after use with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly until all paint residue is removed. Shape brushes back to their original form and allow them to dry completely before storing.

While touch-dry in 1-2 hours and recoatable in 2-4 hours, paint typically takes about 7-14 days to fully cure and achieve its maximum durability and washable properties. Avoid heavy scrubbing or impact during this curing period.

This often indicates insufficient surface preparation or uneven application. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and primed if porous. Apply paint evenly with consistent pressure and allow adequate drying time between coats. Two full coats are usually required for optimal coverage.

Ensure you are using a soft, damp cloth and not an abrasive material. For tougher stains, a small amount of mild detergent can be used. Avoid excessive scrubbing or harsh chemicals, which can damage the paint finish. Allow paint to fully cure for a few days before attempting to clean.

Streaks can result from applying paint too thinly, using too much pressure with the roller, or not working in consistent sections. Ensure you load your roller sufficiently and maintain a 'wet edge' when painting. For brushes, avoid overworking the paint.

While Johnstone's Matt Emulsion is low-odour, some smell is normal. Ensure good ventilation during and after painting by opening windows and doors. The smell should dissipate within 24-48 hours. If it persists, check for adequate airflow.
