Made from wood, this Shut the Box game measures 25.5 x 17.5 x 2.3 cm and comes with 2 dice. It’s a great way of learning to count by playing. Start the game with all tiles open, showing numbers 1 through 9. Each player takes a turn rolling the dice until numbers 7, 8 and 9 are covered. The player will then have the option of choosing to throw just one or both dice. After throwing, the player then calculates the total number of dots on the die or dice and “shuts” any combination of numbers that equal the total amount. The first player to shut all of the boxes is the winner. In the event that all players consecutively roll numbers too small to close a box, the player with the smallest total number wins. Learn how to count by playing! Depending on the number of eyes on the dice you fold back the wooden blocks. Can you manage that at the end all the blocks are folded back?. There are nine pivoting wooden tiles, each numbered individually on both sides. At the start of the game the tiles are tilted upwards and are then closed (or shut) as you roll the dice and combine the numbers rolled to eliminate (or shut) the required numbers. The combined number of both dice must be used exactly - but it is the player's choice as to which combination is flipped over. Therefore, the game is not purely down to luck, as some strategic thought is often beneficial.
