The Kizu table lamp by New Works features a design that radiates a perfect harmony between gravity and lightness, achieved through the bold combination of round shapes and gravity-generating materials. The lamp base is made of marble and is provided with a bowl-shaped acrylic shade, from which the light is emitted gently into the surroundings and upwards through the opening. Norwegian designer Lars Tornøe created this piece with sculptural simplicity, a style for which he was awarded Norwegian Designer of the Year in 2006. Composed of two bold and sculptural shapes, the Kizu table lamp is all about weightless balance. The marble base is topped with an inverted dish in white acrylic. The illusion of gravity creates tension, whilst its curving shapes create a soothing effect. This lamp makes a big visual impact, meriting being displayed like a sculpture.
