It is ideal for treating soft woods such as pine, fir, or cedar. It is not recommended for hardwoods like Oak or Teak.
For optimal results and protection, apply 2 to 3 coats, allowing 24 hours of drying time between each application.
Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from old paint or stains. Sand if necessary and wipe with White Spirit to remove grease. Treat mildew with Fungicidal Wash if present.
While it can be used on interior softwoods, its primary purpose is for outdoor furniture protection. Ensure good ventilation during application and drying.
Clean application tools immediately with White Spirit. Soiled cloths must be washed with soapy water and disposed of safely outdoors due to the risk of spontaneous combustion.
Allow at least 24 hours for each coat to dry before applying the next.
Linseed oil oxidizes and generates heat as it dries. Rags soaked in linseed oil can spontaneously combust if not properly handled, posing a fire risk.
Excess oil was not removed adequately after application. Wipe the surface again with a clean cloth, potentially dampened slightly with White Spirit, to remove the sticky residue. Ensure future applications have all excess removed.
The wood may not have absorbed enough oil, or not enough coats were applied. Ensure liberal application and consider applying an additional coat, allowing adequate drying time between each.
Drying times can be affected by ambient temperature and humidity. Ensure the product is applied in suitable conditions and allow the full 24 hours between coats. If still wet after extended periods, ensure excess oil was wiped off properly.
Preparation is key for optimal results. Ensure the wood surface is clean and completely dry before application. Sand down any old paint or stains. For greasy surfaces, wipe down with White Spirit. If mildew is present, treat it with a suitable Fungicidal Wash before proceeding.
Application:
Compatibility: This product is best suited for *soft woods*. It is not recommended for hardwoods like Oak and Teak.
Cleaning: Clean application tools immediately after use with White Spirit.
After Care: *Crucially*, any cloths or rags used to apply or wipe away linseed oil must be washed immediately with soapy water and then disposed of safely outdoors. This is because they can spontaneously combust as the oil dries and oxidizes.
