It features clusters of scarlet, star-shaped flowers on tall, stiff stems from June to July, and holds an RHS AGM for its garden performance. This plant thrives in damp, boggy environments, making it ideal for bog gardens and the edges of ponds and streams. It can reach a height of 120cm (48 inches) and spread up to 30cm (12 inches). For best results, sow seeds indoors from February to April on good quality seed compost, keeping them moist and at a temperature of 19-24°C (65-75°F). Germination typically takes 10-20 days. Once seedlings are large enough, transplant them to cooler conditions and gradually acclimatize them to outdoor environments. Plant outdoors in a sunny or semi-shaded position with fertile, well-drained soil that stays moist during summer. It is also suitable for clay soils and boggy areas. Seeds sown in February may flower in the same year. Supplied as approximately 60 seeds per packet with growing and care instructions.
