The Catnic CX90 100 Extra-Heavy Duty Catnic Lintel is designed for cavity walls and features a built-in damp-proof course (DPC). It has a duplex anti-corrosion finish, galvanised and powder coated for lifetime resistance in harsh environments, including coastal and marine settings. For optimal results, ensure the blockwork fits snugly within the web of the steel cavity lintel and time the installation for proper curing of the supporting blockwork. Key features include premium steel construction, a built-in DPC, integral plaster key, and excellent thermal performance with continuous insulation. It is suitable for supporting concrete floors, roof loads, and attic trusses, as well as uniformly distributed timber floors. The lintel is BBA approved and conforms to BS EN 10088-2-1.4301. Ideal for structural openings from 750 mm up to 4500 mm, it can span a cavity from 90 mm to 105 mm and requires a minimum bearing of 150 mm at each end. Both inner and outer masonry leaves should be raised together, and wide openings must be propped during construction to allow for mortar curing. The design includes a continuous, insulated core to minimize cold bridging and aids in Part L compliance. The lintel's shape acts as a damp-proof course, directing moisture out of the cavity, and a drip on the leading edge helps shed water penetrating the brickwork. The CX90/100 lintel can handle significant loads, with versions from 900 mm to 2700 mm supporting up to 60 kN, and the longest version at 4.8 m supporting 32 kN. The Safe Working Load (SWL) is based on the total Uniformly Distributed Load (UDL) over the maximum span with 150mm end bearings. Open Back Lintels are specifically for cavity wall construction and incorporate insulation, a built-in plaster key, and a DPC. They support masonry loads, timber floors, and roof loads and are also suitable for fair-faced inner leaf masonry. Features include Duplex Corrosion Protection, a built-in DPC, and restraint clips. Standard lengths are available in 150mm increments up to 3000mm, with longer lengths from 3000mm to 4800mm available in 300mm increments. Proper propping during construction is essential.
