This easy-to-grow, deep violet poppy, 'Hungarian Blue' (Papaver Somniferum), will add a stunning splash of color to any planting scheme. When planted alongside pure whites or yellows, the contrast creates a magnificent display. Ideal for planting in drifts to cover large areas, this poppy is perfect for cut flower gardens and cottage garden borders. It also produces seedpods suitable for dried arrangements. Sow from March to April or August to September for overwintering. The optimum germination temperature is 60-65°F (15-18°C), with a sowing depth of 1/16 inch (1.5mm). Seeds should be sown outdoors where they are to flower and thinned to 12 inches (30cm) apart. These plants thrive in full sun and ordinary garden soil, reaching a height of up to 90cm (35in) with a spread of up to 30cm (12in). Supplied as 1 packet containing 500 seeds.
