Rustins Teak Oil is designed for users looking to protect and enhance the natural beauty of teak and other bare woods, both indoors and outdoors. Its key benefit is providing a quick-drying, penetrating seal that leaves an attractive sheen. A minor caveat is that oily woods like teak require thorough cleaning before application to ensure proper adhesion.

Coverage is approximately 14m² per litre for one coat, depending on the absorbency of the wood. For a 250ml tin, this would be around 3.5m² per coat.
No, Rustins Teak Oil is designed for bare wood only. Existing finishes must be completely removed before application.
While it provides protection, it is not specifically formulated for harsh marine environments. For prolonged submersion or extreme conditions, a dedicated marine varnish might be more appropriate.
Re-application frequency depends on exposure. For exterior furniture, re-apply annually or when the wood starts to look dry. Interior items may require less frequent maintenance.
It is best to stick with teak oil for maintenance. Applying other finishes over teak oil may require specific preparation or may not adhere well.
It enhances the natural colour and brings out the grain, giving an attractive sheen. It does not typically add a strong colour tint itself but will deepen the existing tone of the wood.
Ensure the wood was properly prepared and free of dust or debris. Oily woods may require extra cleaning with white spirit. Apply oil evenly, avoiding over-application in one spot.
Check that the surface was clean and dry before application. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid applying too thickly, as this can impede drying. Oily woods might take longer to dry if not cleaned sufficiently.
This can occur if too much oil was applied or if it didn't fully cure. Wipe down the surface with a cloth slightly dampened with white spirit to remove excess oil.
Preparation: Ensure the wooden surface is clean, bare, and sanded smooth. For oily woods such as Teak or Iroko, thoroughly clean the surface with white spirit before application. Bare wood can be pre-treated with Rustins Wood Dye if desired.
Application: Apply Rustins Teak Oil using a clean brush or a lint-free cloth. Apply evenly, allowing the oil to penetrate the wood. For best results, apply a second coat after the first has dried.
Compatibility: Suitable for Teak, Cedar, and all bare woods. Ideal for shelves, tables, chairs, loungers, benches, doors, bannisters, garden furniture, timber cladding, window frames, and window sills.
Care: Clean surfaces with a damp cloth. For re-oiling, simply clean the surface and apply another coat of teak oil.
