Begonia 'Chanson Sun' F1 is a tender perennial producing abundant double to semi-double flowers in vibrant orange and gold. The cascading habit makes it perfect for brightening shady spots, hanging baskets, and containers. Sow begonia seeds from mid January to mid March at 24-27ºC (75-80ºF) on the surface of a good quality seed compost and gently firm down. Keep the soil damp but not wet and do not exclude light. Place in a propagator or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 15-60 days. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until ready to plant outdoors. Acclimatise plants over 7-10 days once all risk of frost has passed. Transplant outdoors in sun or dapple shade on fertile, well-drained soil at 20cm (8”) spacing. Feed and water frequently, avoid overwatering, and deadhead faded flowers regularly to prolong flowering. Caution: begonia seeds are dust-like; open carefully over white paper.
