Unwins Organic Butterhead Lettuce Sylvesta is a reliable, long-cropping variety with good disease resistance. These seeds produce good-sized lettuce heads with crispy hearts that are ideal for salads and large outer leaves great for sandwiches. Enjoy these flavoursome lettuces from spring through to late summer. Organic Perfect for pots and containers Disease resistant Sow: Mar to Jul Harvest: May to Sep Sowing Indoors Sow thinly 1 cm deep in clean trays or modules of firm, pre-watered compost. Place in warmth (10–15 °C) and keep moist at all times. Planting Out After the risk of frost has passed, plant into the required harvest position 25 cm apart with 30 cm between each row when plants have 3–4 true leaves. Sowing Outdoors Sow thinly 1 cm deep in direct harvest location. Keep soil moist at all times. Thin to 25 cm apart. Advice Keep well watered. Small sowings made every 3 weeks will ensure a continuous supply. Use netting to help prevent damage from birds and insects.
