Oregano (Oreganum vulgare) is a wonderfully aromatic herb, frequently used in Mediterranean cuisine. The lovely green leaves can be used fresh or dried. Oregano is rumored to have many health benefits, including aiding digestion and helping with coughs and healing wounds. These effects have not been scientifically proven, but this herb adds an incredible flavor and aroma to any dish. Sow Indoors: All year round. Sow Outdoors: May-June. Row Width: 12" / 30cm. Harvest: When required. Indoor Planting: Sow seeds 0.5cm deep in trays of moist compost, store in a warm place at an approximate temperature of 16-18°c (60-65°f). Once seedlings are strong enough, transplant into bigger pots or trays, do not overcrowd and keep in a warm, light position. Harden off before transplanting direct into a full sun position after all chance of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow indoors in pots for a year-round supply. Outdoor Planting: Sow seeds 1.5cm deep directly in the growing bed, keep soil moist, and thin to 8" (20cm) when large enough to handle. Harvest before flowers form.
