Plant Theory Campsis × tagliabuana Indian Summer ('Kudian') (PBR) is a fabulous trumpet vine. Position: full sun. Soil: moderately fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Rate of growth: fast-growing. Flowering period: August to September. Hardiness: frost hardy (may need winter protection). A spectacular sight when in full bloom, this fast-growing climber also has attractive foliage, so it still looks lush and green when not in bloom. The trumpet-shaped flowers are a tropical-looking shade of peachy orange, and they appear in clusters in late summer and autumn. It looks great when trained over a sunny, sheltered wall or fence - and will need lots of space to spread out. Garden care: Until the plant has fully established, the shoots need to be trained and tied to a trellis or framework of horizontal wires. In February, prune established plants hard.
