The Prunus Shirofugen Tree is a late-flowering cherry tree, often the last to bloom, with stunning double white flowers that remain on the branches well into June. It features large white blooms opening from pink buds, hanging in clusters from long stalks that cover the branches. As the blossoms mature, their colour deepens into a purplish-pink. The flowers are particularly striking against the young bronze-copper foliage, which turns mid-green in summer and then vibrant orange and red in autumn before falling. This ornamental tree is perfect for medium-sized gardens, reaching heights of 7m and a spread of 7m over 20 years, with a spreading, umbrella-like crown. It is fully hardy, pollution-tolerant, and suitable for urban gardens. While it tolerates most soil types, avoid very wet or chalky areas. This specimen tree holds an RHS Award of Garden Merit. It's an ideal choice for a sentimental gift.
