The deciduous shrub boasts bright green palmate leaves that are variegated with pink-cream edges. In Autumn the leaves turn majestic scarlet, bringing plenty of autumnal colour to the garden. Its compact size makes this variety of Acer ideal for growing in pots, patios or small gardens. Iyoshi prefers full sun or partial shade and to be sheltered from strong winds. Grow in loamy soil and ensure the soil that is moist but well drained. If necessary, add drainage holes to pots to help prevent root rot. Acer trees are generally low maintenance and don’t demand much attention to thrive. Once you’ve found the right spot for your Japanese Maple, all you need to do is water it regularly during dry weather.
