Brolene Antibiotic Eye Drops contain chloramphenicol, an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria to help your body fight infections. These drops are used to treat minor eye or eyelid infections caused by bacteria, such as bacterial conjunctivitis, which can cause symptoms like sore, red, or inflamed eyes, and sticky discharge or crust on the eyelids. Do not use Brolene Antibiotic Eye Drops if you are allergic to chloramphenicol or any other ingredient, which may present as a rash, difficulty swallowing or breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, throat, or tongue. Inform your doctor if you or a family member have had blood problems, including aplastic anaemia. Possible side effects include stinging or burning in the eyes immediately after use, which should be temporary. If you experience skin problems around your eyes, increased bruising or frequent infections, tiredness, weakness, or swelling of the face, lips, or tongue with a rash or itching, stop using the drops and consult a doctor. If any side effects become serious or persist for more than a few days, seek medical advice from your doctor or pharmacist.
