This neat and compact plant is ideal for growing in baskets and containers, but can also be grown in a greenhouse. It requires no side-shooting, making it a very easy-to-care-for variety. Cultivation: For greenhouse cultivation, sow from February to March. For outdoor cultivation, sow from March to April. Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp seed sowing mix and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place seed trays in a propagator at a constant temperature of around 15-20°C until germination, which takes 7-14 days. When seedlings have 2 true leaves, transplant them into individual 7.5cm pots of compost and grow on at a minimum temperature of 15°C. Once the plants are well-grown, transplant them into baskets and containers. After all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before positioning them in a sheltered spot in full sun. Water tomato plants frequently to keep the compost evenly moist. Feed regularly with a high potash plant food once the first truss of fruit has formed. Dwarf bush varieties do not require staking or side shooting. Tomatoes can be harvested as they ripen from July to September.
