Chelsea produces masses of firm delicious green fig fruits, amongst olive-green leaves. This plant has been developed specifically for growing in patio containers, although you could still plant straight into the ground if you wish. Figs from the tree will start to appear in spring, then ripen August to September. It is an easy plant to look after and maintain through the growing and harvesting period. A 2nd crop may appear later summer, and if the tree is protected (wrapped in garden fleece and kept away from cold winds) you will have lots of fruits available the following summer.
