The flesh is tender, juicy and refreshing with a slight rosewater flavour making them perfect dessert pears. The fruits are cone-shaped with green skin russeted in brown. Don’t worry if some developing fruit falls off the pear tree in summer, this is completely normal and helps prevent the tree from becoming overloaded. Before the pears appear, the tree is covered with delicate white flowers in spring. The leaves are glossy dark green, turning red in autumn. 'Beurré Hardy' pear trees are easy to grow and well-suited to container gardening, making them ideal fruit trees for patio pots. These small fruit trees are hardy enough to withstand UK winter temperatures, but those grown in pots may need some added insulation against frost damage. This variety produces a reliable crop year after year. The juicy pears can be harvested from mid-late September and can be finished ripening indoors if required. Plant your new fruit tree in a sunny sheltered spot away from strong winds. Prune in winter to remove dead or damaged branches. Ensure the soil is moist with excellent drainage. A clay, loam or sand based soil with a neutral pH is ideal. Please note: Live plants are unique and may differ from images. Plants are supplied in a growers pot. Depending on the season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth, and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
