Originally designed in 1947 by George Nelson, the Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant Light is a classic of American modernism, featured in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This lamp features a flat, wide elliptical shape, crafted from acrylic polyfibre fabric stretched over a lightweight steel frame. The fine lines of the frame remain visible, creating a special charm. The translucent surface of the spray-applied plastic creates a very pleasant, soft lighting effect, making it ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, or commercial spaces like hotel lobbies. The lamp comes with a steel ceiling plate, allowing it to delicately float overhead. The Bubble Lamp series was inspired by Swedish silk-covered pendant lights that Nelson found too expensive for his office.
