Troubleshooting

Inconsistent spray pattern

Check for loose nozzle or debris in the air cap; clean the nozzle and ensure it is tightened correctly.

Material sputtering

Verify there is sufficient paint in the pot and check for air leaks at the pot connection or nozzle assembly.

Excessive overspray

Adjust the air pressure regulator to a lower setting and ensure the fluid control knob is calibrated for the current viscosity.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Durable, professional-grade construction
  • Excellent for primer applications
  • Wide range of interchangeable nozzle sizes available
  • Compatible with convenient 3M disposable pot systems

Cons

  • Conventional spray technology requires careful air regulation
  • Not optimized for waterborne coatings
  • Requires specific adapter for disposable pot compatibility

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To begin, ensure the air compressor output is clean and moisture-free using an inline filter. Attach the air hose to the inlet and verify that the nozzle is securely tightened. For those using the 3M PPS system, screw on the 3M adapter (number 2/16032) before attaching the disposable liner and lid.

After use, flush the gun immediately with an appropriate cleaning solvent to prevent material buildup in the internal passages. Periodically remove the air cap and nozzle to soak them in solvent, using a soft brush to clean the needle. Never use metal wires or hard objects to clear nozzle orifices, as this will deform the precision machining and ruin the spray pattern.
