The USS Arizona was a battleship launched during the Great War and modernized during its service. It was present at Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941, where a catastrophic detonation caused the ship to sink, becoming a symbol of the attack. The wreckage was never recovered, with only the barbet of the third main artillery tower remaining above the waterline. In 1962, the USS Arizona mausoleum was opened on the wreckage.
