Connect the red clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the dead battery, then to the positive (+) terminal of the assisting vehicle. Connect the black clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the assisting vehicle, and finally, connect the other black clamp to a grounded metal surface on the stalled vehicle.
Allow the assisting vehicle to run for at least 5 minutes to allow some charge to transfer to the dead battery.
If sparking occurs, ensure the clamps are securely connected and try again. If sparking persists, there may be a short circuit; stop and inspect the connections.
The NAPA PROFORMER booster cables are designed for most vehicles, but always ensure the cable length is sufficient for your vehicle's battery placement.
Store the booster cables in a clean, dry place to prevent corrosion and damage. A storage bag or container is recommended.
Dry the cables thoroughly before use. If there is significant water damage, consider replacing the cables.
Check all connections to ensure they are secure and making good contact with the battery terminals. Ensure the clamps are clean and free of corrosion.
Allow the assisting vehicle to run for longer before attempting to start the stalled vehicle. If the problem persists, the battery may be severely damaged and require replacement.
