This re-interpretation of Japan’s first Diver’s watch, released in 1965, is a special edition commemorating 100 years of Seiko watchmaking. The original 1965 Diver’s watch marked the beginning of Seiko’s pursuit for diving reliability, safety, and professional specifications. Worn by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition, it proved its durability in challenging environments. This latest redux is updated with more sophisticated specifications, heightened water resistance, and improved power reserve. It features a 40mm stainless steel case, sapphire crystal glass, and a deep ‘tide’ grey bezel and matching dial, closely resembling the 1965 original. Gold-coloured accents enhance its vintage style. Adhering to professional ISO Diving specifications, the hands and indices are coated in glow-in-the-dark Lumibrite, and the upright date calendar at the 4 o'clock position enhances legibility. For added comfort, the bracelet has updated short pitch links and a shorter buckle, and the watch is slimmer than previous models at a 13mm depth. The in-house 6R55 automatic movement offers an accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day, a 72-hour power reserve, and 300m water resistance. This special edition comes with an eco-friendly fabric strap made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. Prospex combines 'Professional' and 'Specifications,' creating timepieces designed for practicality, reliability, and durability to meet the high standards required in extreme environments for sports lovers and adventure seekers.
