FAQs

Can I use Decofix Pro for outdoor projects?

No, this adhesive is specifically designed for interior use only.

How many metres of coving will one cartridge cover?

A single 310ml cartridge of FDP500 provides coverage for approximately 8 metres of moulding.

Is this the best adhesive for new plaster?

No, for new builds or recently plastered walls, we recommend using FDP700 Hydro.

Does this adhesive work on ceiling tiles?

Decofix Pro is specifically formulated for coving and panel mouldings from Orac Decor.

Can I sand the adhesive after it cures?

Yes, once fully cured, excess adhesive can be trimmed or sanded to achieve a clean finish before painting.

Troubleshooting

Adhesive not bonding to the surface

Ensure the wall surface is clean, dry, and free of dust. If the wall is new or freshly plastered, the adhesive will struggle to cure; use FDP700 Hydro instead.

Cartridge is difficult to squeeze

Check that the nozzle is cut correctly and ensure the internal seal has been properly punctured. If cold, warm the cartridge slightly to room temperature.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Strong initial grab for interior mouldings
  • Easy to apply using standard tools
  • Generous 8-metre coverage per cartridge
  • Reliable, long-term bond for standard plaster surfaces

Cons

  • Not suitable for new builds or high-moisture environments
  • Should not be used on fresh, undried plaster
  • Limited to interior use only

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Before starting your installation, ensure the surfaces are clean, dry, and free of dust or grease. Load the FDP500 cartridge into a standard caulking gun. Cut the nozzle to your desired bead size and apply the adhesive to the back of the moulding. Press the item firmly into position. If you are working on a new build or a wall that has been recently plastered, consider using the FDP700 Hydro variant instead to account for higher moisture content. Store unused cartridges in a cool, dry place and ensure the nozzle is sealed tightly to prevent the product from curing inside the tube.
