These high-quality fruits can also be stored for a short period of time after picking. The fruits of the Prunus avium ‘Sunburst’ are juicy, firm and fragrant and are delicious when eaten fresh. In the Autumn, the once white flowers turn orange and yellow for Autumn before they fall. The Sunburst can be grown as a large tree or it can be trained in a shape of a fan against a wall to optimise the warmth and shelter of the cherries. Cherry trees have showy flowers in Spring and often good Autumnal foliage. Edible fruit also accommodates the branches in the later Summer early Autumn months. 'Sunburst' Colt (Semi-Vigorous) rootstock is suitable for pruning to a bush, a half standard or fans. It can reach heights of 4-5m in a 10 year period. Colt rootstocks can tolerate most soil types including clay and light, chalky soils. 'Sunburst' Gisela (Semi-Dwarfing) rootstock It can reach heights of 2-4m over a 10 year period. Gisela rootstocks is a fairly low maintenance as it flowers late (avoiding Winter frosts). Plant in moist, well drained soil and position in full or partial sun. Cherry Sunburst is a variety of cherry tree producing deep black fruits with dark red flesh and a beautifully sweet flavour. This is an early cropping variety and large, sweet fruits will be ready for harvest throughout the month of July.
