Vine weevils are pests that attack many ornamental plants and fruit crops especially those grown in containers. Adult insects feed on leaves while the grubs damage roots which can weaken or kill plants if left untreated. This treatment introduces microscopic worms that naturally locate and enter the larvae found in soil. Once inside they feed and multiply ending the damaging stage of the pest. These beneficial organisms move through moist soil and reach larvae hidden around root systems where problems often remain unnoticed until plants decline. Apply during periods when larvae are active which is late spring and early autumn. Use outdoors from March to May and again from August to October when soil temperatures remain above 12ºC. This ensures the treatment reaches larvae at the correct stage for best performance in pots and garden beds. Apply directly to the soil around plant roots where larvae feed. When used under cover such as in greenhouses or polytunnels the pest life cycle is disrupted allowing applications at any time of year as long as the soil remains above 12ºC. Keeping soil moist before and after treatment supports movement through the growing area. Each pack treats up to 100 square metres and includes clear instructions. Apply using a watering can or nematode applicator for even coverage. Always ensure soil is moist and keep it damp for at least two weeks to support nematode activity and movement. The nematodes come complete with instructions and can be applied using a watering can or nematode applicator. You just apply to moist soil when the soil temperature is above 12ºC. Nematodes are live material and their performance may vary depending on soil moisture and temperature. They are safe for pets, people, and beneficial wildlife. Store in a refrigerator and use before the expiry date to maintain efficacy.
