It thrives as a climbing plant on trees and can be easily cultivated indoors year-round. To propagate, soak seeds in lukewarm water for 12 hours, then gently press them into moist potting soil mixed with sand. Cover with compost soil and plastic film, ensuring ventilation every 2-3 days to prevent mold. Place in a bright, warm location (25-30°C) and keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Germination can take two to six weeks. The Pepper Plant prefers a warm, bright spot but not constant full sun, and benefits from regular misting with lime-free water. Start with a 12cm pot and repot every three years, providing a climbing support from the beginning. Water moderately, avoiding waterlogging, and fertilize every two weeks from April to September with a plant fertilizer. In winter, maintain a bright, warm location with at least 15°C and water sparingly. "Pepper Plant" can refer to black, green, or white pepper depending on the fruit's maturity and processing. The characteristic pungent taste comes from the alkaloid piperine.
