This hardy and evergreen plant forms a dense mat of soft green foliage, acting as fantastic ground cover and an effective weed suppressant. From late spring through autumn, it blooms with a profusion of vibrant crimson flowers featuring delicate pinked edges. It's ideal for covering bare ground in sunny spots within borders and rockeries. This plant is also perfect for patio pots, cottage gardens, alpine and rockery settings, and coastal gardens. Sow seeds from February to April on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays, covering with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Maintain a temperature between 18-20C (64-68F). Avoid excluding light after sowing, as it aids germination. Keep the compost surface moist but not waterlogged. Germination typically takes 14-30 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (3in) pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting outdoors after the risk of frost has passed, spacing them 30cm (12in) apart. Plant Dianthus in any fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Feed and water regularly until fully established. Position: Full Sun. Height: Up to 20cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 30cm when fully established. Supplied as 1x Dianthus deltoides 'Brilliancy' seed packet (approx. 200 seeds). Flowering period: May to September. Growing and care instructions are included.
