The Pulcina espresso coffee maker, designed by Michele de Lucchi, is the result of extensive research into optimizing the shape of the coffee maker for the best possible coffee. Born from the collaboration between Italian coffee roasters Illy, designer Michele De Lucchi, and producer Alessi, the Pulcina boasts a striking, rounded, cut-out form. Years of research with Illy led to the development of a spherical water tank, narrowed at the top, which creates pressure before water boils, resulting in a more natural and intense coffee flavor. The tanks are designed in "stairs" with varying materials and thicknesses to adapt to the heating and cooling phases of coffee preparation. Pulcina automatically stops filtering at the precise moment to eliminate the bitter, burnt taste often caused by over-extraction. Its distinctive spout, inspired by a chicken's beak, ensures a perfect, drip-free pour. This 3-cup model features a handle and knob in PA and comes in red.
