The Dylon Dye Pod - Ocean Blue 350g is designed to deliver reliable color transformation for a range of natural fabrics. For instance, you can effortlessly revive a pair of faded denim jeans by giving them a fresh, deep Ocean Blue hue, or brighten up worn bath towels to extend their lifespan and aesthetic appeal. The all-in-one formula ensures a consistent color result when used correctly.
When dyeing, the product performs best on natural fibers such as cotton, linen, and viscose. For materials that are a blend of natural and synthetic fibers, like a cotton-polyester mix, the dye will primarily adhere to the natural components, resulting in a lighter or more pastel shade of Ocean Blue. Pure synthetic fabrics, such as 100% polyester or nylon, will not absorb the dye and will remain their original color.
To achieve the full, rich Ocean Blue shade, ensure your fabric load does not exceed 600g (e.g., about one pair of jeans and a t-shirt). If you're dyeing a larger amount, up to 1.8kg (e.g., a duvet cover or several shirts), expect the color to be a lighter, more subtle blue. The dye process involves two wash cycles, ensuring the color penetrates and sets properly for a permanent finish.
Prepare Fabric: Ensure your fabric is clean and damp before placing it into the washing machine drum. Do not overload the machine.
Insert Dye Pod: Remove the outer sleeve from the Dylon Dye Pod. Carefully peel off the lid completely. Place the open pod upright on top of the damp fabric inside the washing machine drum.
Run Dye Cycle: Close the washing machine door and run a full cycle at 30°C or 40°C (do not use an economy or pre-wash cycle).
Run Second Cycle: Once the dye cycle is complete, remove the empty dye pod. Add your usual laundry detergent to the machine and run another full wash cycle at 30°C or 40°C to rinse the fabric and clean the machine.
Clean Machine: For best practice, run an empty hot wash cycle with a small amount of detergent in your washing machine after dyeing, especially if dyeing dark colors, to ensure any residual dye is flushed out.
Suitable For: Cotton, linen, and viscose.
Lighter Shades On: Blends of natural fabrics with synthetics (e.g., cotton-polyester).
Not Suitable For: Pure synthetics (e.g., 100% polyester, acrylic, nylon), wool, silk, or fabrics with special finishes (e.g., waterproof, dry-clean only).
After the second wash cycle, your newly dyed fabric is ready to be dried as usual.
For the first few washes post-dyeing, it's recommended to wash the dyed item separately or with similar dark colors to prevent any potential slight color bleeding onto other garments.
