The Hay-Saver is a safe plastic slow feeder manufactured in the UK, designed for outdoor use to minimize hay wastage and promote healthy eating. It reduces hay wastage by up to 50% compared to feeding on the floor. Suitable for use in the field, stable, corral, or pen, it is large enough for two or three horses and ideal for horses on restrictive diets. With a massive 250L capacity, it dimensions are 80cm x 110cm x 55cm tall and it holds approximately 12Kg of dry hay, equivalent to a small bale. Made from tough, frost-resistant food-grade plastic, it encourages healthy eating patterns and allows horses to eat at a natural level, potentially preventing issues like cribbing, ulcers, weaving, chewing, and feed aggression. It is safe for shod or unshod horses, although the net grill is not recommended for shod horses. The Hay-Saver can also be used for haylage and soaked hay. It can be modified to be used as a water trough by drilling a hole for a tap or by simply removing the lid and filling with water (250 Litre capacity). The grill drops as hay is eaten, allowing horses to access feed until the very bottom. Each hay saver can hold up to one small rectangular bale of hay (approx 20KG). The lid is secure unless improperly closed. If tipped, the grill prevents hay spillage. Any accumulated water can be emptied daily when refilling. The container protects hay from rain, and drainage holes can be added if not used as a water trough. Weighing 12KG, it is stable in wind, but can be weighted down if necessary. It is suitable for three ponies or two horses to eat from simultaneously.
