Can I apply U-Pol Reface over bare metal?

It is recommended to apply a suitable etch primer or epoxy primer to bare metal before using the Reface filler to ensure maximum adhesion and corrosion protection.

What is the recommended grit for sanding the cured filler?

For best results, sand with P180–P320 grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth finish before priming.

Is the hardener included?

Yes, this kit includes the necessary hardener to facilitate the 2K curing process.

How long does it take to dry?

Drying times depend on temperature and humidity, but it is typically sandable after 1-2 hours at room temperature.

Can this be used on plastic bumpers?

U-Pol Reface is primarily formulated for steel and glass fiber; verify specific plastic adhesion properties before attempting to use it on flexible automotive plastics.

  • Provides a stable foundation for automotive paint
  • Professional-grade durability

Cons

  • Limited pot life once hardener is added
  • Requires careful surface preparation to avoid lifting
  • Not suitable for direct application over untreated bare metal

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure success, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease or wax. Before application, abrade the surface with P80–P180 grit sandpaper. When mixing, follow the manufacturer-specified ratio precisely, as the 2K chemical reaction is sensitive to hardener concentration. Once mixed, the material has a limited working time and must be sprayed immediately. Clean all application equipment with appropriate thinners immediately after use to prevent the product from curing inside your spray gun, as cured polyester is difficult to remove.
