The Loctite Threadlocker - Red - 50ml is an industrial-grade adhesive for permanently locking and sealing large threaded fasteners (M25 and above). Its key benefit is preventing loosening and leakage caused by shock and vibration, ensuring secure assemblies. A caveat is its permanent nature, requiring heat or significant force for disassembly. This high-strength, high-temperature threadlocker cures in the absence of air between metal surfaces, offering robust protection for steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass.

Permanent locking means the bond is designed to resist loosening due to vibration and shock. Disassembly requires significant force, often involving localized heat to break the chemical bond.
This threadlocker is designed for high-temperature applications and can typically withstand service temperatures up to 150°C (300°F) after full cure.
Loctite Red 272 is specifically formulated for larger fasteners (M25 and above) due to its high strength and permanent nature. For smaller fasteners, consider Loctite Blue or other removable threadlockers.
On most metal surfaces at room temperature (20-25°C), full cure is achieved in approximately 24 hours. Fixture cure can occur in as little as 2-4 hours.
It is compatible with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass. For inactive metals or applications in cold temperatures, a surface activator may be recommended.
Store the container tightly sealed in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and ignition sources.
Typically, unopened containers stored under recommended conditions have a shelf life of one year from the date of manufacture.
Ensure sufficient metal-to-metal contact, check for air gaps. Use an activator for inactive metals or low temperatures. Verify cure time; full cure takes up to 24 hours.
Verify that the correct grade of threadlocker was used and applied adequately to all threads. Ensure surfaces were properly cleaned before application. Confirm that the assembled torque met specifications.
Apply localized heat to the assembly (typically 200-250°C) to soften the cured adhesive. Use appropriate hand tools for disassembly once heated.
This can occur due to storage conditions. Ensure the product is within its shelf life. If viscosity is too high for application, consider using a surface activator or applying slight warmth to the container.
