The cabinet body is made from organically dyed Valchromat®, a durable, FSC-certified MDF, and supported by a slim yet sturdy steel frame. The contrasting materials and vibrant tones give it a strong visual identity while retaining a minimalist, functional form. Available in a range of mono- and multi-colour combinations and sizes, the Colour Cabinet works equally well in living rooms, offices, or public settings. The Colour Cabinet collection is a series of floor standing and wall-hanging cabinets that highlight the contradictory interplay between clean, minimalist design with the vibrance and originality of colour. With functionality as a starting point, the designers explore how contrasts and similarities in materials and colours enhance and showcase the material’s natural beauty in furniture items. The Colour Cabinet collection was created by the world-renowned Belgian duo of Muller Van Severan, and is part of the current icon list. From galleries to museums, not to mention collectors… They all love their joyful, colourful and timeless creations with radically minimalist lines. Inspired by the Bauhaus movement and the work of Donald Judd, the Colour Cabinet storage collection plays on the contrast between the minimalism of the lines and the vibrant generosity of the colours, which highlight the beauty of the dope-dyed material. Modern and full of zest, the colour palette has been exactingly selected to accentuate the strict, primary shapes of the units. Each piece is both functional and fun. The compartments come in various sizes, with or without legs, with or without sliding doors in ribbed glass. The various versions mean there are countless ways to use this piece: Wall shelf, bedside table, sideboard, TV unit or cabinet. Colour Cabinet contains a blend of joyful intensity and remarkable sobriety, along with poetry and geometry. The Colour Cabinet storage units are made in Vlachromat: A dope-dyed and varnished wooden fibre panel. The fibres are soaked with organic colours and chemically bound together by a special resin.
