Product Information

Full details

The Motorex Spray With PTFE is a high-quality, multipurpose lubricant spray designed for applications requiring a dry-film lubricant. It's ideal for professionals and DIY enthusiasts who need to reduce friction, prevent parts from sticking, and protect against corrosion without leaving a greasy residue. While it offers excellent performance across a wide temperature range and has anti-static properties, users should ensure adequate ventilation during application due to its aerosol nature.

FAQs

What is PTFE?

PTFE stands for Polytetrafluoroethylene, a synthetic fluoropolymer of tetrafluoroethylene that is widely used as a non-stick coating and lubricant due to its low coefficient of friction.

Can this be used on rubber or plastic parts?

It is generally compatible with many plastics and rubber components, but it's always recommended to test on a small, inconspicuous area first to ensure compatibility, as some materials may react differently.

How long does the lubrication last?

The longevity depends on the application and environmental conditions. As a dry film, it may require reapplication more frequently than traditional wet lubricants under heavy load or extreme conditions.

Is this product suitable for high-speed applications?

While it provides excellent lubrication, it's primarily designed for applications where a dry film is preferred. For very high-speed sliding surfaces, a specific wet lubricant might offer better performance and cooling.

What is the recommended storage temperature?

Store the can in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, ideally between 5°C and 30°C.

Does it leave a greasy residue?

No, a key feature of this product is that it dries to a non-oily, dry film, thus avoiding greasy residue and attracting less dirt.

What is the minimum film thickness?

The minimum film thickness is 5 µm (micrometers).

Troubleshooting

Spray nozzle is clogged

Turn the can upside down and spray briefly to clear the nozzle. If still clogged, remove the nozzle and soak it in warm water or a suitable solvent, then dry thoroughly before reattaching.

Lubricant is not drying to a film

Ensure the surface is clean and dry before application. Check if the temperature is within the operational range. Shake the can more vigorously before spraying.

Weak adhesion or poor performance

Verify that the surface was properly cleaned and degreased prior to application. Ensure the spray was applied at the recommended distance and allowed to dry completely.

White residue remains after drying

This is normal for a dry-film lubricant. If a completely invisible finish is required, this product may not be suitable. For excessive residue, ensure it was applied thinly and evenly.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Provides effective dry lubrication without mess.
  • Offers excellent protection against corrosion and seizing.
  • Stable performance across a broad temperature range.
  • Adheres well to surfaces for durable protection.
  • Anti-static properties are beneficial in certain environments.
  • Suitable for a wide variety of mechanical applications.

Cons

  • Requires good ventilation during use as it is an aerosol.
  • May not be suitable for extremely high-pressure applications.
  • The dry film may wear down over extended periods of heavy use.
  • Initial application requires proper surface preparation for best adhesion.
  • Not intended for use on high-speed sliding surfaces where a wet lubricant might be preferred.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup:

  1. Shake the can well before each use.
  2. Ensure the surface to be treated is clean, dry, and free from grease or oil.
  3. Hold the can upright and spray from a distance of 20-30 cm.
  4. Allow the lubricant to dry completely (a few minutes) before assembling or operating the treated parts. A thin, white film will form.

Compatibility:

  • Compatible with most metals and many plastics. Test on a small, inconspicuous area first if unsure.
  • Suitable for use in temperatures ranging from –20°C to +265°C.

Care:

  • Store the can in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
  • Wipe away any excess spray immediately with a clean cloth.
  • After use, turn the can upside down and spray for a short time to clear the nozzle and prevent clogging.
