Fast-acting Dextrose Gel (40% dextrose) from GlucoGel, formerly known as HypoStop. Easy to carry, use, and swallow. Each triple pack contains 3 x 25g tubes. Glucogel is recommended by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence for managing hypoglycaemia and is a food supplement used to treat low blood sugar levels, commonly experienced by people with diabetes, especially those on insulin. Each tube contains 10g of glucose, helping to raise blood sugar levels rapidly. It is advised that diabetics check their blood glucose levels before consuming a Glucogel dose to confirm low levels and the need for extra carbohydrates. NICE guidelines suggest that 10-20g of carbohydrates administered will increase blood glucose levels within 5-15 minutes. Glucogel 40 can be administered through a PEG tube, though oral absorption is quicker. The product has a typical shelf life of 18 months from the date of manufacture and once opened, if the top is securely refastened, it will last until the best before end date printed on the bottle. Early signs that you may need to take Glucogel include sweating, feeling tired, dizziness, hunger, tingling lips, shakiness, a fast heartbeat, irritability, paleness, and moodiness. Glucogel 40 Gel is for diabetics and should be taken when experiencing low blood sugar symptoms. Levels should be checked 10 to 15 minutes after ingestion to ensure they are rising. Glucogel 40 Gel is not for emergency hypoglycaemia, for which a glucagon emergency kit or Baqsimi nasal spray would be needed. A Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) is included with every purchase.
