The Mishimoto Universal Cooler (MMTC-U) is designed for vehicle owners looking to enhance their transmission or power steering cooling, especially when using Mishimoto radiators on applications originally equipped with automatic transmissions. Its key benefit is providing efficient cooling in a compact size. A potential caveat is that it's an add-on product, requiring existing compatible Mishimoto radiators or custom installation.

While similar in principle, this cooler is specifically designed for transmission fluid or power steering fluid. Using it for engine oil may not be optimal due to different temperature ranges and pressure requirements. Mishimoto offers dedicated oil coolers.
The drain cock connector allows for easier draining of the fluid from the cooler during maintenance or fluid changes without needing to disconnect the main hoses.
It is generally recommended to perform a transmission fluid flush and replacement when installing a new cooler to ensure the system is filled with fresh fluid and free of contaminants.
If your vehicle experiences frequent towing, heavy loads, extended periods of high-speed driving, or if transmission fluid temperatures consistently run high (above 200°F / 93°C), an auxiliary cooler can be beneficial.
The cooler core measures 15 1/2 inches in length, 5 inches in height, and 3/4 inches in depth.
The fittings are 3/8" Push On. Adapters may be required if you intend to use AN or other fitting types.
Ensure the cooler is correctly mounted with good airflow. Check for any obstructions in front of the cooler. Verify hose connections are secure and not kinked. Clean cooler fins of any debris.
Ensure the 3/8" push-on fittings are fully seated and secure. Check the O-ring clamps for proper tension and condition. Replace hose or clamps if damaged.
Inspect the cooler for any signs of impact or damage. If significant damage is present, it may need replacement to ensure proper function and prevent leaks.
Carefully plan the mounting location. Consider alternative mounting brackets or slight adjustments to surrounding components if possible. Ensure the chosen location allows for hose routing without sharp bends.
