Spring Onion ‘Lilia’ produces a reliable crop and is quick to yield tasty salad onions. Use the thinned out onions in salads and stir fries, any surplus can be left to mature and form bulbs which can be used later on in the season as maincrop onion. When mature, this variety has long storage potential. Reveals red and white rings when sliced. Spring onions will grow in any good fertile soil provided it is well drained. Sow seeds from late winter to summer at 3 weekly intervals. For an early spring crop sow seeds in autumn and over winter. Sow thinly 6mm (0.25in) deep in drills 15cm (6in) apart. No thinning is required. Harvesting can usually start 6-8 weeks after sowing. Will grow in any fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Keep well watered.
