The Nukeproof Horizon Pro Downhill Flat Pedals are engineered for serious mountain bikers, particularly those engaged in downhill and enduro riding. Co-designed with world champion Sam Hill, these pedals offer exceptional grip, durability, and impact resistance, ensuring reliable performance on the most demanding trails. While built robustly, their optimized design means you get this strength with a minimal weight penalty, making them a top choice for aggressive riders seeking confidence and control.
World Champion Design: Developed in collaboration with 5-time downhill world champion Sam Hill, ensuring race-proven performance and reliability.
Robust Construction: Features a forged 6061-T6 Alloy body with CNC finishing for an ideal balance of fatigue resistance, strength, and optimized weight.
Superior Grip: Equipped with a large platform and adjustable pins, allowing riders to customize their foot placement and maximize traction.
Impact Deflection: Angled edges on the pedal body are designed to help deflect impacts from rocks and roots, preserving pedal integrity and preventing snagging.
Long-Lasting Bearings: Each pedal spins on 2 high-quality DU bushings and 2 sealed cartridge bearings (total 2x DU bushings and 4x sealed cartridge bearings per pair), designed to spread stress loads from heavy impacts.
Enhanced Durability: A lip seal positioned between the axle end and pedal body effectively reduces the ingress of water and dirt, significantly prolonging the pedal's life between services.
Standard Compatibility: Utilizes a Cro-Mo axle with a standard 9/16 thread, ensuring compatibility with most modern mountain bike cranks.
Optimized Weight: Weighing 430g per pair, these pedals offer robust performance without an excessive weight penalty.

The Nukeproof Horizon Pro Downhill Flat Pedals are engineered to excel in demanding environments where maximum grip and durability are paramount. Their large platform provides ample surface area for stable foot placement, crucial for maintaining control over rough terrain and during high-speed descents. The adjustable pins are a key feature, allowing riders to fine-tune the level of grip to their preference and shoe type. For instance, you can extend the pins for aggressive, 'locked-in' feel or shorten them slightly for easier foot repositioning.
During fast descents or technical sections, the angled edges of the pedal body prove invaluable, helping the pedals glance off rocks and roots rather than snagging, which can prevent crashes and damage. The combination of DU bushings and sealed cartridge bearings ensures smooth rotation and high resistance to impact loads, meaning these pedals can withstand repeated heavy landings and rough trails without developing play quickly. The integrated lip seal significantly reduces maintenance frequency by keeping mud and water out of the internal components, making them ideal for all-weather riding. Riders will find these pedals inspire confidence, allowing them to focus on line choice and body positioning rather than worrying about foot slippage or pedal failure.
Installation: Ensure your crank arms' pedal threads are clean. Apply a small amount of anti-seize grease to the 9/16 Cro-Mo axle threads of the Horizon Pro pedals. Thread the pedals into your crank arms, remembering that the drive-side pedal (right) tightens clockwise, and the non-drive side pedal (left) tightens counter-clockwise. Use an appropriate pedal wrench or Allen key to tighten securely, but do not overtighten.
Pin Adjustment: The pedals come with adjustable pins. You can alter their height using a small Allen key to customize your grip level. Experiment with different pin heights to find what works best for your riding style and footwear.
These pedals feature a standard 9/16 inch axle thread, making them compatible with virtually all modern mountain bike cranks, including those from Shimano, SRAM, Race Face, and more.
Cleaning: After muddy or wet rides, clean your pedals with water and a soft brush. Avoid using high-pressure washers directly on the seals or bearings, as this can force water and contaminants inside.
Pin Inspection: Regularly check the adjustable pins for wear or damage. Replace any bent, broken, or excessively worn pins to maintain optimal grip. Replacement pins are typically available from Nukeproof.
Bearing Maintenance: While the sealed bearings and lip seals offer excellent protection, periodic inspection and servicing will extend the life of your pedals. Listen for any grinding noises or feel for play. If necessary, consult a professional bike mechanic for bearing service. The lip seal specifically helps prolong life between services by keeping out dirt and water.
Axle Security: Periodically check that your pedals remain securely tightened to your crank arms.
