The original sealant formulation, released 2.5 years ago, was designed primarily for effective puncture sealing by maximizing the surface area of the liquid latex for enhanced performance. Pro racers valued its convenience, as they frequently changed tyres based on race conditions and could easily pour in fresh sealant without needing to inject it through the valve. However, we heard two main concerns from more casual cyclists - it dried out quickly when not in use, and its composition of the longer strand carbon fibre made injection difficult and pro.Silca Ultimate Tubeless Sealant V2 has been developed over two-and-a-half years to deliver market-leading sealing performance with exceptional longevity and easy maintenance. Capable of sealing holes up to 6mm, its hybrid natural and synthetic latex formula provides a long-lasting, injectable solution for clean and efficient top-ups.Silca's sealant utilises Fiberfoam technology, incorporating small carbon fibre strands that are 400% stiffer than fibreglass. This enables punctures to be plugged rapidly with minimal air loss.The latest formula remains liquid for up to six months, drying more slowly while maintaining its superior sealing power. Adjustments to the carbon strand length have improved injectability without compromising performance. The formula is also CO2 safe, ensuring it stays effective and does not coagulate during inflation.The carbon fibre-reinforced seal forms a strong, airtight barrier, performing reliably even in extreme temperatures as low as -15°C.
