The Catnic CX90 100 Extra-Heavy Duty Catnic Lintel is designed for cavity walls and features a built-in damp-proof course (DPC). It has a duplex anti-corrosion finish, being galvanised and powder coated for lifetime resistance in harsh environments. For optimal results, ensure blockwork fits snugly within the steel lintel's web and allow the supporting blockwork to cure properly before installation. Key features include premium steel construction, a built-in DPC, integral plaster key, and continuous insulation for thermal performance. It is suitable for supporting masonry loads, concrete floors, roof loads, and attic truss loads. The lintel is BBA approved and conforms to BS EN 10088-2-1.4301. It is ideal for structural openings from 750mm up to 4500mm and can span a cavity from 90mm to 105mm, requiring a minimum bearing of 150mm at each end. Both inner and outer masonry leaves should be raised together, and wide openings must be propped to allow for mortar curing. The lintel's design includes a continuous, insulated core to reduce cold bridging, contributing to Part L compliance. A separate DPC is often unnecessary due to the lintel's shape directing moisture out of the cavity. The leading edge features a drip to shed water penetrating the window head brickwork. Load capacities vary by length; from 900mm up to 2700mm, it supports 60 kN, while the 4.8m version handles 32 kN. Safe working loads are based on total uniformly distributed loads over the maximum span with 150mm end bearings. The inner flange and ribbed underside of insulation have staggered slots for plaster key. CX and CH Catnic Lintels have a perforated steel base plate. Installation videos and technical support are available. Catnic lintels are stocked by approved distributors.
