The Buxus Sempervirens, also known as Boxwood, is a versatile evergreen shrub appreciated for its dense, compact growth habit and small, glossy leaves. This popular plant is often used for creating formal hedges, sculpted topiaries, or as an ornamental shrub in garden borders. Buxus thrives in well-drained soil and can tolerate both sun and partial shade, making it adaptable to various planting locations. With its slow to moderate growth rate, Buxus is a low-maintenance plant that provides year-round greenery and architectural interest to the garden. It is a hardy shrub, suitable for the UK climate. Our Buxus Sempervirens are evergreen, box hedging plants. This classic variety bears a dense and leafy appearance, and its bright green foliage creates an eye-catching hedge for your garden. Their vibrant leaves will grow at a slower rate, progressing by 10 - 15cm every year. Once they mature and get to their maximum height and coverage, they are perfect for screening, creating hedge borders, partitioning and more. Better known as Common Box, they gain greater coverage when spaced 2 -3ft apart. Placing them in full sun or partial shade and planting in moist, well-drained soil is recommended, although clay and chalk soils are also suitable. They should be watered regularly so the soil remains moist as this promotes good growth.
