This Seiko Prospex watch is a modern re-interpretation of Japan’s first-ever Diver’s watch, originally released in 1965. The 1965 Diver’s watch was renowned for its reliability, safety, and professional specifications, even being worn by members of the Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition. This updated model features a sophisticated design with heightened water resistance and an improved power reserve. The 40mm stainless steel case houses a sapphire crystal glass and a deep ‘cove’ black bezel and dial. For optimal legibility, especially in low light, the hands and indices are coated with Lumibrite, and the date is displayed at the 4:30 position. Enhanced comfort is provided by updated bracelet links and a shorter buckle, along with a slimmer 13mm depth. It is powered by the in-house 6R55 automatic movement, offering an accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day, a 72-hour power reserve, and 300m water resistance, meeting professional ISO Diving specifications. Prospex embodies the fusion of ‘Professional’ and ‘Specifications,’ signifying timepieces built for practicality, reliability, and durability in extreme environments, catering to sports lovers and adventure seekers.
