The deep burgundy, near-black foliage is complimented by carbine-red flower umbels that appear in late summer to early autumn. This hardy perennial is easy to grow in British weather. Sowing time: February to June. Sow seed on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays, without covering. Maintain a temperature between 21-25C (70-75F). Do not exclude light after sowing, as it aids germination. Keep the compost surface moist but not waterlogged; germination typically takes 14-30 days. Once seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 7.5cm (3in) pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise seedlings to cooler conditions for 10-15 days before planting outdoors after the risk of frost has passed. Plant in well-drained soil in full sun, spacing plants 45-60cm (18-24in) apart. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten. Product Specifications: Position: full sun. Height: Up to 15cm.
