Grow your own fabulous cascading flowers, ideal for adding dramatic colour to your hanging baskets...Grow your own fabulous cascading flowers, ideal for adding dramatic colour to your hanging baskets, containers and window boxes. The vibrant cerise-purple antirrhinum-like flowers of Asarina purpusii 'Victoria Falls' are clasped in lime-green bracts, cascade from delicately arching stems. This half-hardy perennial will flower from early May until cut back by frost. Sow from early February to mid-April in a good seed compost, just covering the seed with a thin layer of compost or vermiculite. Germination takes 14-21 days at 20-24°C (70-75°F). Seal in a polythene bag after sowing and don't exclude light. When large enough to handle, transplant the seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots and grow on in cooler conditions. When well-rooted, plant into baskets or containers, using a good soil-less compost with some Sow-Lite (vermiculite) added. Leave in a shaded greenhouse for 2 weeks and then gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before moving outdoors, after all risk of frost has passed, to a sunny, sheltered spot. Product specifications: Position: Full Sun. Height: Up to 45cm when fully established. Spread: Up to 20cm when fully established. Supplied as 1x Asarina purpusii 'Victoria Falls’ seed packet (approx. 20 seeds). Flowering period: May to October.
