SPECIFIC™ FKD – Kidney Support is a specialized diet formulated to provide nutritional support for adult cats experiencing reduced heart, kidney, and/or liver function. It is also designed to help prevent the formation of calcium oxalate, urate, or cysteine stones. This formula features high levels of Omega 3 fatty acids derived from fish, along with reduced protein content and a carefully balanced blend of vitamins and minerals. These components work together to support healthy blood pressure and reduce the workload on the kidneys. Key benefits include lower mineral and protein levels to ease the burden on the kidneys, while still providing complete protein requirements with high biological value proteins. The high fish oil content supports cardiac rhythm and blood pressure, which in turn aids kidney function. A restricted phosphorus content is crucial for maintaining normal blood pressure and slowing the decline of kidney function. Additionally, the reduced protein, added potassium citrate, and urine alkalization help to prevent the formation of various types of urinary stones.
